Principal
George Cone founded Lonesome Dove Energy with the belief that lasting partnerships are built through trust, transparency, and disciplined decision-making.
A Dallas native, George earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Political Science from Austin College after spending his junior year studying at the University of Freiburg in Germany. He later received a Master of Science in Electronic Commerce from the University of Dallas.
His professional career has included international banking assignments in London, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong, followed by institutional stock brokerage and more than seventeen years in the advertising industry before entering the oil and gas business.
George founded Lonesome Dove Energy in 2013 with the goal of providing accredited investors access to carefully selected Texas oil and gas partnerships built upon thoughtful evaluation and long-term relationships.
His commitment to integrity extends beyond business. George owns and curates the Lest We Forget World War II Museum, preserving the stories and sacrifices of the generation that served our nation. His father was a World War II veteran, and several of his uncles also served, instilling in him a lifelong appreciation for service, accountability, and keeping one’s word.

Oliver Sawford has spent nearly two decades in the oil and gas industry and has been part of Lonesome Dove Energy since 2016.
His responsibilities include prospect evaluation, due diligence, financing, investor communications, sales material development, office operations, and working closely with operators, geologists, and industry professionals throughout the evaluation process.
Prior to joining Lonesome Dove Energy, Oliver’s background included the financial services industry, where he held FINRA Series 22 and Series 63 registrations. That experience continues to influence his disciplined approach to evaluating opportunities and communicating with investors.
Oliver believes successful partnerships are built on transparency, education, and long-term relationships rather than sales pressure.
